Living Torah

Shalom, I'm Laura!
Connecting Jewish traditions to modern life.

My passion is bringing mindfulness and Judaism together to help us deepen our lives while giving us the space and language to experience the ups and downs of life.
From baby namings to mikvahs and more, I would be overjoyed to help you plan your rituals and simchas for you and your family.
I currently officiate B-mitzvah ceremonies for all levels, baby naming ceremonies for all genders, upsherins (the ritualized haircut at three years old – I am a NJ licensed hairdresser), tenaiim (engagement ceremonies), weddings, namings for all ages, mikvahs (ritual immersion), funerals, shiva minyan, and unveilings.
You may also be going through something in your life that you feel ritual could help with. We can work together to create a ritual and/or ceremony for you that is rooted in tradition. I also love to offer workshops and programming for adults and children of all ages. I have worked with teachers on bringing Jewish mindfulness into the classroom and bringing prayer alive. My Story
I was only fourteen when I tutored my first student. I remember sitting at her Bat Mitzvah service bursting with pride as she took a deep breath and read the Torah with such confidence! She had been so nervous and I could just feel that melt away as her confidence and excitement took over. That moment sparked a lifetime of joy for tutoring, for being a part of people's special Jewish events, and for bringing mindfulness to the experience.

Over the last ten years, I have experienced huge life cycle events in my life: divorce, losing my beloved father, remarriage, birth, and more. I have found that ritual has held my family and I in a meaningful framework during these intense moments. It has grounded me and made me feel part of a larger support system that expands beyond space and time. My experiences have helped me to be present and understanding towards others as they navigate life’s journey.

I am currently a Rabbinic student with the Aleph Ordination program. I have my Masters in Jewish education from Hebrew College and the Pardes Educators program. I taught middle school Judaics for 8 years at Hannah Senesh Community Day School. I am the Spiritual Director of Beloved Brooklyn and lead various educational and mindful programs for adults and kids throughout New York and New Jersey. I am a mikvah guide through Immerse NYC. I also lead meditation and write and share content about the weekly Torah reading with Or Ha Lev and the Institute for Jewish Spirituality.
